Elizabeth S. Foster has been involved in education for the past 34 years as a Classroom Teacher, Curriculum Supervisor, Peer Helper
Coordinator, Counselor, K-8 Principal, University Professor, National Consultant, Author, Childbirth Educator and Poet. Her contributions
to the field of Peer Helping include more than two dozen articles, three textbooks for student tutors, program evaluation and social
skills development. Additionally she serves as a President Emeritus of the National Association of Peer Programs. She was awarded the
2004 NPHA Scholar of the Year Award.
Elizabeth's highly acclaimed books: Energizers and Icebreakers for All Ages and Stages, Book 1 and Book 2 have become standard references
for teachers, counselors and group leaders. Both have been best sellers for 10 years.
Dr. Foster completed her doctoral work in Personnel and Guidance at North Carolina State University where she focused her research on
peer helper training models. Her current work and research continues at Texas A&M University, College Station, Texas where she is
currently an Associate Professor in the College of Education and Human Development. There Elizabeth has been active in the development
and teaching of a new graduate program emphasis in Developmental Mentoring for Educators, one of only two such programs in the United
States. She also serves as the Director for the Texas A&M University MENTORING RESEARCH COLLABORATIVE for Learning and Development.
