nominator, the nomination form, what happens upon receiving the nomination, note to nominees, deadlines and description of awards.
Be careful to observe the deadlines for submission:
February 15, 2008 -- All nominations e-mailed to Awards Chair
March 31, 2008 -- Completed applications e-mailed from nominees to Awards Chair
April 20, 2008 -- Committee completes review of all applications
April 30, 2008 -- All award applicants notified
June 26, 2008 -- Awards Luncheon at 2008 NAPP Conference in San Diego, California.
BARBARA VARENHORST / NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF PEER PROGRAMS AWARD OF MERIT
This lifetime achievement award is presented to an individual who has made significant, ongoing contribu-tions to
the peer helping profession.
1. The nominee should possess the personal qualities thought to be desirable as a peer helper/peer helper
professional.
2. The nominee should be responsible for important innovations in peer helping programs. His/her contributions
to peer helping programs can be in any form: e.g., media development, legislation, creative arts, or funding.
3. The activities and/or accomplishments recognized can have taken place over the recipient's entire career
of involvement with peer helping.

NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF PEER PROGRAMS SCHOLAR AWARD
The purpose of this award is to recognize an individual who has significantly contributed to the field of peer
helping through her/his publications and presentations. This individual has brought positive public awareness to
peer helping.
1. The nominee must be a current member of NAPP.
2. The nominee must have produced scholarly materials in peer programming.
3. The nominee must be capable of communicating ideas and facts about peer programming to groups with diverse
membership.
4. The nominee must have an in-depth knowledge of peer helping.

NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF PEER PROGRAMS PROFESSIONAL OF THE YEAR AWARD
The purpose of this award is to recognize an individual who, through his/her contributions to peer programs,
demonstrates an emerging growth and prominence in the peer helping profession.
1. The nominee must be a current member of NAPP.
2. The nominee must be working in the field of peer helping programs (within the last five years).
3. The nominee should promote and be responsible for innovations in the field of peer helping, should provide
leadership in the further development of existing peer programs, and should demonstrate leadership in peer helping
by performing outstanding service to the school or community.
4. Activities and/or accomplishments must have taken place within five (5) years prior to the date of the
presentation of the award.

NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF PEER PROGRAMS YOUTH OF THE YEAR AWARD
The purpose of the Youth of the Year Award is to publicly recognize one outstanding male and one outstanding
female who have made significant contributions to the field of peer helping.
1. Nominees must meet the age requirement equivalent to that of a junior or senior in high school.
2. Nominees must have been actively involved in peer helping for at least two (2) years prior to the
presentation of the award.
3. Nominees must embody the attributes of peer helping standards and peer leadership.
4. Nominees must demonstrate, understand, and promote the potential of peer helping programs in changing
lives, schools, and communities.
5. Nominees must willingly demonstrate and promote the highest standards of conduct.
6. Nominees must accept the role of spokespeople for peer programs.
7. Nominees must be leaders who communicate their support of peer helping programs through speech and
written publications.

NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF PEER PROGRAMS PEER PROGRAM OF THE YEAR AWARD
The purpose of the Peer program of the Year Award is to recognize a model peer program within a community or
school setting. The Program must be a NAPP Certified Peer Program (CPP).
1. The program nominated for this award must be an existing CPP program within a community or school setting.
A school-based program can be at the Elementary, Middle, Junior High School, Secondary, Multi (K-12), or
Post-Secondary level.
2. The nominee for this award must be a program that serves as a model of excellence for other peer programs.
3. Programs should follow the NAPP Standards and Ethics.
3. The program should have been in existence for at least five (5) years prior to the date of presentation of the
award.
