Who is NAPP?
The National Association of Peer Programs’ mission is to help adults establish, train, supervise, maintain and evaluate peer programs. With members throughout the world, NAPP is the preeminent international support organization for peer helping professionals. It offers an annual conference, training opportunities, professional development, a newsletter, a peer helping listserv, and its journal, Perspectives in Peer Programs. NAPP was founded in 1986 and is a 501(c) nonprofit corporation.
What Are Peer Programs?
Peer programs demonstrate a youth development concept that provides young people with the knowledge, skills, and experiences necessary to become responsible, caring, contributing citizens. Peer programs prepare youth with ongoing and formal training and supervision to provide a variety of school and community-based support services.
Who Should Attend The Conference?
Anyone involved with programs that include academic tutoring, prevention education, one-on-one personal support, conflict resolution, peer mediation, mentoring, hotlines, peer ministry, service learning, leadership development and other related youth activities.

Concurrent Workshop Sessions May Include
Conference Workshops are from one hour to two hours in length and cover topics such as: Team Builders, Energizers & Icebreakers, Conflict Resolution, Personal Growth Workshops For Adults, Establishing & Maintaining Effective Peer Programs, Peer Helping for Seniors, Promoting Safe Campuses, Listening Skills, Decision Making, Suicide Prevention, Confidentiality, Youth Court, Recruitment & Selection.
Important Dates
Training Institute: June 22-24, 2008 – Conference: June 25-27, 2008.
Early Registration Deadline: Register on or before May 1, 2008 and receive a $50 discount.
Cancellation Deadline: Cancellation requests must be received at the NAPP office in writing by June 1, 2008. No refunds will be issued after that date. A $50 fee will be assessed for all cancellation requests.
What Is The Training Institute?
The Training Institute is an indepth workshop on a specific topic. They can be from one to three days in length.

Accomodations
A Residence Hall on campus will be available for attendees. Space is limited, reserve early. For hotel accommodations, we suggest you google: "Hotels near the University of San Diego."

Graduate Credit
Graduate credit is available through Lindenwood University for both the Training Institute and the Conference: one credit for each 16 contact hours. Details and fee schedule will be available at the NAPP registration desk.
Conference Location, Weather and Dress
The University of San Diego is situated on a mesa overlooking San Diego Bay, with views of the surrounding community of Linda Vista and Tecolote Canyon. San Diego weather in June calls for warm days with little chance of rain. The evening fog comes in suddenly and can be cold. Conference dress is casual, so bring shorts for daytime and a jacket or sweatshirt and long pants for evenings near the water.

San Diego Airport
San Diego International Airport serves San Diego and most major airlines serve SDIA.
Car Rental: Reservation boards are located near the baggage claim areas of Terminals 1 & 2. Car rental agencies are off-site and do not have counters inside the terminal. Car rental shuttles will take you to rental locations.
Shuttles: Shuttle service is available at the Transportation Plazas across from Terminals 1 & 2, and curbside at the Commuter Terminal. Shuttle fare is approximately $16
Taxis: Follow the signs leading to the Transportation Plazas. A Transportation Coordinator will place you with the first available taxi – unless you specify a particular taxicab company. Cab Fare is approximately $25. Cabs can be shared.
